Senior System Administrator

Specific duties

  • Perform administration and maintenance of the company’s technology infrastructure in order to ensure operational performance, capacity, and implementation of future technology infrastructure strategy
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure across multiple operating system platforms (e.g. Windows, UNIX, Linux, etc.) to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s IT assets. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links
  • Manage and ensure the effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems
  • Ensure that the production and disaster recovery data centers, network, and all associated technology services and infrastructure operate efficiently, perform within agreed targets, and deliver a secure platform for the organization to carry out its business
  • Responsible for delivering support within agreed SLAs and to a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • Manage implementation of identified projects based on a broad and detailed knowledge of current and emerging technologies and provide technical input into projects undertaken by or impacting on the company

Required Skills

  • Degree level education or equivalent combination of relevant skills and experience
  • ITIL Foundation or Practitioner certificate. Conversant in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes, procedures, and roles required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, VPNs, Storage and Virtual Environments
  • Strong computing server and storage administrator skills
  • Extensive knowledge of computing support roles, including security administration, service desk, and application support
  • In-depth understanding of Microsoft operating systems, Azure and Office 365, Solaris, UNIX, and Linux
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as desktops/laptops, servers, routers, switches, network interface cards, and so on.
  • Ability to perceive underlying practices that affect computing system performance and identify potential systems improvements
  • Experience with delivering time-critical services
  • Experience in working with outsource providers
  • Decisive and must be able to use initiative to make quick decisions to resolve problems and overcome obstacles
  • Analytical, results-driven, responsible, high-stress tolerance, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and identify and prioritize key issues in a changing environment
  • Self-driven, motivated, goal-oriented, and able to take full responsibility for work.
  • Adopt agile work methodology and be able to collaborate with all teams, internal and external.
  • Ownership of issues through to resolution
